Virginia is currently in Phase 3 of its Forward Virginia reopening guidelines. These guidelines include social distancing of six feet or more, capacity limits at indoor businesses, following CDC-recommended cleaning protocols and limits on large gatherings. Masks or cloth face-coverings are required when visiting any type of indoor business or attraction. Most businesses and attractions are open now in the state; however, some of those have their own policies and rules.
For example, some rest areas along the Appalachian Trail and on other hiking trails may be closed. We always recommend checking the website of each individual place you are planning to visit, whether that’s a hotel, park, historical attraction, winery, brewery or shops and restaurants. The local convention and visitor’s bureau in each region will have updated information on regulations and what’s open in their area.
I was so excited that the 2020 Virginia Travel Guide —free from Virginia Tourism —featured my pet friendly story on its cover because Virginia is truly for dog lovers!
