It may sound like a strange combination, but the Dog & Oyster Vineyard in the small town of Irvington—part of the Northern Neck—prides itself on both its vines and its bivalves. Owned by the family who also operate the popular Hope & Glory Inn, the vineyard is named for their rescue dogs and is easy to spot. Just keep an eye out for the giant corkscrew!
The vineyard’s patio, called Slurp, offers Chesapeake oysters on the half-shell, fried or in creative sandwiches like the Virginia slider, featuring Smithfield ham. Pair those with Oyster White or Pearl, or grab a bottle of Shelter Dog Red to pay homage to your best friend.
Your well-behaved, leashed pup is welcome on the grounds and at Slurp and if you just can’t bear to leave, the Inn offers a pet friendly cottage.
