Why take a vacation with your BFF—Best Furry Friend—and leave them in a hotel or vacation rental the entire time? We’ll tell you about all the fun places you can go with Fido, from craft breweries and wineries to fun hikes and historical attractions.
I am a native Virginian, lifelong animal lover and professional travel writer, so I combined my passions to create pet friendly travel guides that highlight the best places to vacation with your four-legged friends. I am the author of Fido’s Virginia , a guide that highlights fun things to do with your dog, the best pet friendly lodging and some fun stories about famous Virginia dogs, as well as important travel information and safety tips. My canine co-authors, Tipsy and Max, crossed the rainbow bridge and are traveling now together, but I was rescued by a 5-year-old German Shepherd named Lola who is helping me create this website. She loves riding in the back seat of the Subaru and sniffing out new places to stop along the way.
Since guidebooks aren’t updated very often, this website will strive to provide current information for visitors who are bringing their furry family members on vacation. That means—for the next few months at least—we will focus primarily on safe outdoor activities and attractions that you can visit right now and, as travel restrictions ease and more attractions open up, we’ll add more destinations as we go along. If you have a specific question or need more information on a particular city, hotel, attraction or region of the state, you can email those to Lola and me at Ask Lola. And if you find a great pet friendly place or activity that I haven’t featured, please email us a description of what you and your pup love about Virginia—be sure to add a photo to your love note—and we’ll feature that in our Tips & Tales section!
